Privacy Policy

The short version: the game runs in your browser, your streak lives on your device, and the only thing that ever leaves your computer is a solver query you deliberately submit.

The game

Playing is entirely client side. The word, your guesses and the result never reach a server. There is no account, no login and no profile, so there is nothing to attach a game to even if we wanted to.

Your streak and records

Streaks, daily results and best scores are written to your browser's local storage on your own device. We cannot read them, they are not linked to you, and clearing your browsing data deletes them.

The solver

When you press the solve button, the pattern and the missed letters are sent to our server so it can search the dictionary. That query is used to produce the answer and is not stored, not logged against you and not used for anything else.

Words you create

A word you turn into a shareable game is encoded into the link itself and never sent to us. That is why we cannot recover a link you have lost, and why nobody but the person you send it to ever sees the word.

Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting aggregate analytics to count page views. Analytics never receives the words you play, create or solve.

Advertising

The site is supported by advertising. Third party ad vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com or aboutads.info. There are no ads inside the game, the solver or the create tool.

Children

This is a general audience site with word lists built for classroom use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, because we do not collect personal information at all.
